Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, Inc. (LUMCFS) is a non-profit agency dedicated to improving children and families'mental health and overall well-being throughout the state of Louisiana. At our three Children's Home locations, we provide the most comprehensive, intensive care available for children with severe emotional and behavioral needs.
In an area where half of Louisiana's families and children reside, we are expanding our services with a brand new, state-of-the-art Methodist Children's Home of Southeast Louisiana. Here, we have the opportunity to bring much-needed care to children ages 7-14 with a home specially designed to meet their personal, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. The 125-acre site includes a dormitory, cafeteria, therapists’ offices, classrooms, recreation rooms and a 24-hour nursing clinic.

THE NEED

Children in Louisiana are struggling. Annie E. Casey Foundation has ranked the state as 48th in overall child well-being. The needs are great, and for these children, treatment options are limited.

There is no substitute for intense, therapeutic, temporary residential care. With intense one-on-one, group, and family therapy, children are introduced to unconditional love of caregivers grounded in faith.

LUMCFS is dedicated to serving abandoned and abused children. This is the vital role of the Methodist Children’s Home. The mission is to help children recover by building trust and instilling hope and resourcefulness.
